Students are taught to work without force and at the rate and depth which facilitates openness and release in the tissues. Students are helped to understand that each change introduced into the body whether by stress or therapeutic intervention, causes compensatory changes throughout the body. Students are taught to plan massage care by outcome objectives and to work at a pace that allows the client to return to balance without further over-stressing the system.  In each section of assessment and technique students are taught how to assess postural distortions, screen for signs of contraindications, muscle test for strength, weakness, and shortness.  In addition to classroom participation, students complete homework assignments and case studies, prepare client handouts on assigned topics, turn in documentation of required practice of techniques outside of class, and pass a written and practical exam in each module
